The treatment of a Grey squirrel issue can be more difficult and time consuming than other rodent pests. The treatment for controlling any squirrel issue needs to be carefully considered, as once a family of squirrel have been removed from an area there’s a chance at some stage the territory may be re-occupied.
The Treatment usually involves a combination of trapping and an anticoagulant poison called Warfarin, this is the most effective way to manage any Squirrel issue. This is the only poison licenced to be used on Grey Squirrels, this requires the Squirrel to consume it several times before it takes effect this is called a multi feed bait and stops other Squirrels from becoming suspicious and bait shy if illness or death is associated with that food.
